Director, Emerging Business/Community Outreach

Description:In cooperation with the NFL and Host Committee Volunteer Leadership, manage the NFL's Emerging Business Program which is a business development program designed to provide opportunities for minority-owned and women-owned businesses to participate in the Super Bowl procurement process. This position will also manage NFL and Host Committee outreach efforts which includes educational, community, and youth initiatives.
  • Plan and manage the Emerging Business Program and Community Outreach Initiatives, including goal setting and strategic plan to achieve goals.
  • Interface and align with governmental agencies and local business development organizations to plan and manage a certification process for minority-owned and women-owned businesses.
  • Manage the Emerging Business database including assisting the NFL with the development of its Business Resource Guide or on-line local vendor directory for certified businesses; database user coordination with the NFL, NFL contractors, and local vendors; development of periodic reporting and final audit reports
  • Assist the NFL with the development, planning, and execution of events and developmental workshops designed to educate local vendors regarding the Emerging Business procurement process.
  • Assist the NFL with building relationships between Super Bowl purchasing entities and qualified local businesses.
  • Develop and execute an outreach plans to communicate Emerging Business Program and community outreach initiative messages that identify qualified or appropriate participants.

 

Duties:
  • Provide direction and work cooperatively with Host Committee Volunteer Leadership on specifically assigned committees through administrative support, facilitation of meetings, budget management, timeline management and integration of similar planning areas across all other committees
  • Manage staff and interns towards successfully meeting all timelines and deadlines; operate according to Host Committee Hiring Policy Statement.
Qualifications:Experience and a history of success in the following areas:
  • Diversity Procurement/Business Development: demonstrate experience in diversity procurement and business development.
  • Volunteer management: demonstrated experience in training and directing volunteer groups to meet specific goals while maintaining positive volunteer relationships.
  • Committee or volunteer group management: demonstrated success in directing and facilitating a committee or group process to meet specific goals.
  • Financial management: experience in developing realistic and supportable projections and successfully working with a defined budget.
  • Staff management: experience in managing and supervising both staff and interns; demonstrated ability to meet short-term goals with minimal turnover.
  • Project management: demonstrated ability in successfully meeting project timelines and deadlines while managing multiple and simultaneous projects.
  • Business/organizational partnerships: experience in developing and facilitating business and organizational partnerships in achieving specific goals.
  • Public speaking and presentations to both large and small groups.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Indianapolis area business and civic community.
  • Bachelors Degree with minimum 5 years professional experience in leading and managing groups and individuals towards goal accomplishment.
Positive Strengths for Consideration:
  • Prior procurement experience working with RFP/RFQ process, vendors and contractors is preferred.
  • Previous not-for-profit experience.
  • Previous event volunteer experience.
  • Strong current relationships in the Indianapolis community.
  • Previous large-scale event planning experience.

  • High competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint (staffing plan allows very limited administrative support available to assist in workload).
  • High competency in Scheduling and Microsoft Outlook meeting planning.
